Trio Amphiprio - between folklore and abyssSamuel Waffler -Piano, Atur Performance – Violin, Pierre Schaaf - Cello
Program:
Frank Martin (1890-1974): Trio on Irish Folk Melodies (1925)
Mieczysław Weinberg (1919-1996): Klaviertrio in A minor, Op. 24 (1945)
Frank Martin's trio unfolds a hidden magic – dance-like, playful, yet full of underlying energy. Folklore as an echo of an ancient, almost mystical tradition.
The abyss of modernity: Mieczysław Weinberg's Piano Trio carries the shadow of war within it. A relentless machine oscillating between lyrical stillness and eruptive violence – an abyss that pulls the listener into its existential depths.
A synthesis of extremes: two worlds colliding: the vibrant, almost trance-like lightness of folklore and the dark, oppressive intensity of the abyss. A program designed to make you lose yourself between beauty and horror, tradition and modernity.

"Bach pure’n‘tide – ein Rendezvous: Hairdryer’s Chamber Music Infection #57"Lukas Dreyer – cello, looper, Stefan Locher – electric bass, congas, Sönke Reger – violin
In a first collaboration, Leipzig cellist Lukas Dreyer invites two musicians to his "Infection" series – a series in which he has for years enabled unexpected ensembles, rarely performed chamber music, and thus genre excursions. The pieces enter into a solo dialogue across new soundscapes and surprise with Latin American finesse in the beats set to authentic music by Bach – "pure 'n'tide" – a pulsating sound concept between worlds, a WGT premiere.
The program features the Chaconne, impressions from the six solo suites for solo cello, looper, and various duo and trio arrangements. New arrangements of organ trio sonatas and the Well-Tempered Clavier provide sonic counterpoints. And, as with every "Infection" concert, composer Chick Corea is posthumously represented with newly arranged Children's Songs.

Matinee – Junge WGT Musik Kammer (chamber music by young musicians)Young artists from Central Germany traditionally perform for the festival's guests as part of a matinee concert. For many of them, performing in the "Young Chamber" is a special experience and often a first step on the path to an international artistic career. It is always exciting to see which of these young talents later return to the stages of the Wave-Gotik-Treffen.
Chamber music by Martin Torp, Aaron Copland, Paul Hindemith, Eugène Bozza, and others will be presented by young musicians from Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt. A presenter will guide the audience through the program and invite the young artists to share their stories about the music.
